Eurobank S.A. (“Eurobank”), a subsidiary of “Eurobank Ergasias Services and Holdings S.A.” announces a significant management transition within the organization.
After more than 25 years of dedicated service to the Eurobank Group, Ms. Despina Andreadou, Group Chief Audit Executive (CAE), General Manager, will be stepping down from her role as Group Chief Audit Executive. However, Ms. Andreadou will continue her valuable contribution to the Group as a Management Consultant, reporting directly to Mr. Stavros Ioannou, Deputy CEO, Group COO & International Activities.
During her tenure as Group Chief Audit Executive, Ms. Andreadou played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of high standards of internal control and governance within the Group. Her efforts contributed significantly to ensuring the orderly operation, reliability and trust towards shareholders, investors and customers.
In light of this management change, the Board of Directors of Eurobank ratified on 25.04.2024 the appointment of Mr. Spyridon Zarkos as the new Group Chief Audit Executive of Eurobank, with effective date of this appointment the 1st of May 2024, succeeding Ms. Despina Andreadou in this role.
Mr. Zarkos has the appropriate knowledge and relevant professional experience to assume the above position, having served as Head of Internal Audit at Eurobank since 2020, and he meets all the criteria and conditions defined in the legislative and regulatory framework. With extensive experience in the banking and wider financial sector, Mr. Zarkos has held various leadership positions in banking and insurance supervision as well as Risk and crisis management (Recovery and Resolution) in Greece and abroad (IMF, EBA, Bank of Greece, Geniki Bank, NBG). Additionally, he has served as a member of various Boards of Directors and Agencies both domestically and internationally (HFSF, EBA, EIOPA ECB/SSM, SRB). Furthermore, Mr. Zarkos has contributed to academia, having taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the United States and Greece, specializing in econometrics and computational statistics. Mr. Zarkos holds a PhD and a Master's Degree in Economics from Southern Illinois University (USA) and is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
